Imagine a hybrid of Maxwell Smart, James Bond and Inspector Clouseau, and you have a pretty good representation of the trench coat-wearing, awkward (but heavily equipped) Inspector Gadget. Unfortunately, where he drew in technological progress, he strongly in savvy was missing. However, it was created by DIC Entertainment - 1983 on the ether come hard, not to little Inspector Gadget, the syndicated cartoon series.
Gadget (voiced by Don Adams) famous was not the most competent inspector for his role as Maxwell Smart, ever walking a beat. He is due to his lack of brainpower, but with a most impressive selection of nifty devices - many of which, to his body-, which it is allowed to perform all kinds of miraculous services such as bounce were attached, fly, and his arms to inhuman lengths by simply the stretch command, "Go, go, gadget arms!" There was no doubt to his evil behavior but once one has an earful of his threatening voice (provided by prolific actor Frank Weller.)
Inspector Gadget was originally broadcast from 1983 to 1985, before he moved to Nickelodeon, where it ran from 1987 to 1992 and achieved its greatest popularity. It his way on CBS for short-time and even NBC in on the action by making one 1992 prime time holiday special called Inspector Gadget saves Christmas. And finally in 1999 gadget finally its way onto the big screen in a live action adaptation, Rupert Everett as Dr. claw and Matthew Broderick as the famous Inspector featured.
