Collections of the father-in-law of Brandon League to all-star save situation-The Seattle Times

League brandon, pictured above during its session of all-star media today at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, he believes that it is unclear how the impending birth of his third son. He was willing to lose baseball event to witness the most significant event blessed, but looks like it will be able to do both.

My first question the League was about the status of the baby. His wife Sasha, flew to Phoenix last week (in a private plane; some airlines do not allow women to advanced in their pregnancy fly). I decided to work for a long time inducing in Seattle during the all-star break, when there was a League all-star in your radar again. They are now scheduled to induce Wednesday in Seattle, flying together return after the all-star game on Tuesday. That if Sasha maintains long ago, of course-and the League have their fingers crossed.

"Really is not having any contractions," he said.I think we're in the clear until Wednesday. "

In this case, have your obstetrician were watching in Arizona during spring in what is called training. If Sasha go to work today or tomorrow, "Which I have here," said League. can we have everything covered. "All".

And that means everything. The alloy has an ACE up his sleeve.

"Your father is a doctor, too," said League. "He could deliver it in the stands if wanted. "

The League's father-in-law is the family physician by profession, but "has done everything". He worked in the emergency room. "Even though he needed john tommy (surgery), he could do."

The sailors expect is not necessary.

The League also says that he does not accept the fatherhood, which this year for the first time are eligible for new parents in the lists of major league baseball. You can leave the team of 24 to 72 hours. The sailors open the second half of the season Thursday at Safeco Field against the Rangers in the first game of a series of four matches. After leaving on a road trip in nine games for Toronto, Boston and New York.

"Launch on Thursday," he said.I had the option (to take paternity leave), but I'll be with them throughout the day Wednesday. My mother will be there to help. I'll be home during the day, and then I'll play at night. We have a long trip soon, so I'll make sure my time ".

Nobody was here more than brilliant Michael pineda, who made sure soak up the atmosphere as much as he could. Jaime navarroMariners bullpen coach, who has been a mentor and confidante of Pineda since it was shown in class A Wisconsin in 2008 as a young man of 18 years is on your left in the figure above. In a nice gesture, Pineda Navarro asked to accompany him to the Phoenix. Pineda was named to the team on Sunday, too late for his family in the Dominican Republic visas to travel to Phoenix. Navarro said he was happy to cancel their plans (fishing, sightseeing in Seattle) to participate in the all-star game. Navarro never made an all-star team in his career of 12 years, although some stations very well.

Pineda, just 22, made in his first season, and he is savoring the experience.

"Oh, Wow," marveled Pineda. "I'm very excited. It's my first all-star game. Some of these guys were in three or four or even more. I'm trying to soak it in everything. "

Has been a notable increase of Pineda, who, in March, led to survive the final cut.

"It's incredible, he said."In spring training, just trying to be part of the team. Today I'm in the all-star game. I say, ' Wow. Thank You, God. ' ''

Felix hernandez, at the same time, however, here is like a spectator, but he was enjoying himself today, too. Hernandez is one of several stars launchers eligible to participate on Tuesday because it was released on Sunday. But was replaced on the active list (by Boston Jon lester, which is on the DL and was immediately replaced by Toronto Ricky romero), Hernández had the option to watch the festivities and jumped on it. Last year, when he went on to win the Cy Young Award, Hernandez does not make the squad for. He was not going to pass up the opportunity to be part of his second all-star game.

"Won't be stange." I'm going to enjoy it, "said Hernandez, who said that tomorrow will be uniform in the Bank of the defendants."It will be fun. "

Hernandez, added, "if it is here that you want to post." But it is a rule ".

Felix expressed satisfaction with the achievements of his protégé, Pineda.

"I'm very proud of it," he said.He is having a great year. It is a great guy. Young but intelligent. He knows what he is doing. "

Manager Ron Washington had a curious comment about Pineda.

"I play with it." But says nothing unless Felix OK, says "Washington joked.

Finally, I couldn't resist the adjustment of the Giants closer Brian Wilsonshot. Why? Just look at it. It is a view that doesn't see every day in an atmosphere of baseball. Or any configuration, in the case.

The new State of southern Sudan-New York Times

On Saturday, the South Sudan will become a free and independent country. It is a deserved victory for its people. Under a United States-backed 2005 agreement that ended two decades of civil war, the territory's people voted overwhelmingly Christian mostly in January to separate the Muslim Arab North.

Still, celebrations in the capital, Juba, cannot conceal a truth disappointing: build a new country functional will take decades of hard work. The responsibility lies mainly in southern Sudan, but also in the United States and the international community to guide.

54 State of Africa is at the bottom of the developing world. Most people live on less than $ 1 per day more than 10 per cent of children do not reach the age of 5 years. About 75 percent of adults cannot read.

Meanwhile, bitter disputes between North and South are fueling the chaos in a land already bloodied by two million killed in the civil war. Sudan on Friday became the first State to recognize the southern Sudan. President of Sudan, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, the murderous war in Darfur, said that he would attend the festivities in Juba. But he also said that he would continue the fight that broke out last month against the forces loyal to the South in South Kordofan, a region rich in oil, still under the control of Khartoum. Decision of Mr. Bashir at the request of the United Nations to withdraw from the peace of South Kordofan is deeply worrying.

The main elements of the peace agreement of 2005 were resolved-as to which side will control the oil-rich region of Abyei, where fighting has also broken; citizens protection of minorities; where will the final frontiers. As oil revenues will be shared (South has 70 percent of reserves).?

The two parties are dependent on each other. Needs of southern Sudan of the northern pipeline to get its oil to the market. Sudan needs the oil money to help pay their bills. Both need foreign investment and the North needed debt relief. They have a better chance to win international support if they are in peace.

As an incentive, the United States and its partners have offered to convene an International Conference in September to southern Sudan. It will allow the southern Sudanese leaders present their plans for the promotion of private investment needed desperately. Washington gave Juba 300 million dollars to education and housing and promises more. International assistance should only move the southern Sudan constructively work with Khartoum to bring stability to both countries.

The Obama administration, correctly, is not taking off Sudan its terrorism list and the normalisation of relations unless it is in accordance with the peace agreement in Khartoum and end the conflict in Darfur. China, the Sudan oil investor and main supplier of arms, should deliver a similar message to Mr. Bashir, who is accused of war crimes, rather received with fanfare in Beijing and offers promising new oil. The international community must convince both sides to avoid war and to work to build a future for two Sudans.
