Report: Mobile Social Net MocoSpace Interested in MySpace ...

Boston - MocoSpace, the Boston-based provider of a mobile social network, is considering buying MySpace from its parent News Corp., according to a report in GoMo News.

"MySpace was a pioneer in the social revolution and we think their business could be paired synergistically with our offerings," MocoSpace CEO, Justin Siegel, is quoted as saying the article.

"MocoSpace and MySpace would be a powerful combo in the social networking world."

MocoSpace was founded in 2005 by Siegel and Jamie Hall, who had previously co-founded and sold mobile gaming company JSmart Technlogies.

News Corp. reportedly has attracted interest from several parties interested in acquiring MySpace.

CEO Chase Carey said in an earnings conference call this week that "the plan to allow MySpace to reach its full potential may be best developed under a new ownership structure," as quoted by Agence-France Presse.
