Startup (MocoSpace) In Talks To Buy MySpace

myspace"

Mobile social networking startup MocoSpace has issued a statement expressing interest in purchasing MySpace from parent company News Corp. MocoSpace says  the two companies have already begun to talk.

It is not know what the purchase price would be, but it would be far less than the $327 million paid by News Corp a mere five years ago. MocoSpace has raised $6.5 million in venture capital to date.

It is not exactly clearly how MocoSpace and MySpace fit besides the fact that they both serve the teenage demography. MocoSpace offers mobile social networking and mobile games. It has 11 million members of which 500,000 make new “friends” every day. The average users spends over 13 minutes on its service and accesses the site over five times per day. It serves up 3 billion mobile web pages each month. It makes money from virtual currency, goods and advertising.
