Facebook with over 400 million users, world wide, has claimed the social networking crown from MySpace. Initially, Facebook was designed keeping only college and university students in mind but because of its tremendous success rate it is been opened to everyone now. There cannot be a person aged 18 not knowing about Facebook and the sad truth is there are plenty out there don’t know that a social networking site called MySpace exist. If you are thinking of having a social networking account then this article would help you choose which is best for you.

Facebook has a fixed layout and hence the loading time is very much less but in case of MySpace, users are allowed to customize their accounts with music, flash files, different colored back ground etc (these customizations will increase your loading time). This clearly shows that Facebook is for those who like simplicity whereas MySpace is for those who like customization. Facebook is pretty famous among youngsters and the aged limit to open a Facebook account is 14 while even 8 year olds can have a MySpace account.

Except adding music to your profile, there are not much notable features in MySpace while in Facebook, you get the features like chat, pole, superwall, creating events and much more. It is true that Interaction with friends is much easier in Facebook compared to MySpace and considering the number of users in Facebook you can easily find out your very old buddies. Facebook, basically designed for networking is also used now as a dating tool.

There are not much security options in MySpace but the privacy options are plenty in Facebook. You just need to spend some time setting everything. For example, every photo you upload in Facebook can be customized, meaning that even if you have around 400 friends, you can give access to only 1 or 2 of your friends. If you prefer to leave Facebook for a temporary period then you can use the deactivate option which temporarily deactivate your account until you login next. You cannot find this feature in MySpace. We suggest MySpace for those aged below 10 years because your child can be much safer than in Facebook. There are dedicated members in MySpace to overlook everything that are been updated, every photo that is been uploaded etc.
